What can I do if the STATUS LED keeps flashing in orange?
The possible reasons that cause the STATUS LED to flash in orange are:
- No hard drives are installed (STATUS LED will flash in orange/green).
- DSM has not been installed.
- No volumes are created.
- The volume is in degraded mode.
- The volume has crashed.
Please follow the steps below to fix this issue:
- If no hard drives are installed:
- Solution: Refer to the Quick Installation Guide and install the hard drives.
- If DSM has not been installed:
- Solution: Install DSM using Synology Assistant. Double-click on your Synology product and follow the wizard to complete the setup.
- If no volumes are created:
- Solution: To create a volume, log into DSM (http://serverIP:5000). Go to Storage Manager > Volume to create a volume.
- If the volume is in degraded mode:
- Solution: To repair the degraded volume, log into DSM (http://serverIP:5000). For a RAID 1 or RAID 5 volume, find out which drive has been degraded (at Storage Manager > HDD/SSD), and replace it with a new one. After the new hard drive has been inserted, repair the degraded volume by clicking the Manage button > Repair on the Volume page.
- If the volume has crashed:
- Do NOT touch or change anything in DSM and please submit a Support Form.
